The Tigers - Savage Music

i was browsing in a local charity shop recently and saw a 7" single called 'ska trekkin' by a band called the tigers.at this point i had never heard of the band but i bought the single anyway(despite not having a deck to play it on) because im an idiot and thought it may have been a ska version of the star trek theme!which of course it isnt.anyway after speaking to a few mates one of them sent me this link for what appears to have been their only album which i was told was only ever released in the usa.anyway what we have is a collection of nice ska-pop which im really enjoying listening to on this fine sunny day here in london.anyway give this a listen, enjoy some old school british ska circa 1979,and hopefully leave a comment.thanks!

Mikey Dread - The Peel Session

a 5 track peel session recorded (or at least broadcast)in 1982.ive not found much info on it except for the fact that the tracks listed on the back may possibly be the wrong tiles or in possibly the wrong order if you know what i mean.or not.ive seen it labelled in 2 different ways so im hoping that someone out there in interweb land might be able to point out any mistakes in the titles etc.anyway theres some great stuff on there so if your a fan of dub,and of mikeys work with the clash then youll like this.so i hope you listen, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Clash - Sound of The Sinners

the first of a few promised new clash posts.these come from their scandinavian tour in 1981.this one is from gothenburg from may 15th. http://www.blackmarketclash.com/ had this to say "The Clash returned to the Scandinavium, Gothenburg where a year earlier they had produced an extraordinary performance, one of the best of 1980. Tonight’s does not quite reach those heights but is very enjoyable nevertheless, one of the best from this 1981 European tour. As with the 1980 concert a very good audience recording circulates of the whole of this concert too."
i think its a very good listen and its 26 tracks of clashy goodness.so hopefully you'll listen, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Jam - Down in the Tokyo Subway '81

this is an audience recording of the full show from the jam in tokyo sometime in 1981.i believe there is a better quality fm boot around but its not the full show.anyway its a good quality audience boot from the always brilliant 'jam'.its strange but listening to this you can almost feel the bands frustration at the very polite clapping at the end of each song from the tokyo audience.or maybe thats just me.but i think for fans of the band you've got to have this for your collections.so listen, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Meteors - Peel Sessions

another post that does exactly what it says on the tin.a collection of peel sessions recorded between '83 and '85.12 songs in all for you to dance wildly around the house to.so play loud, close the curtains so the neighbours cant see your attempts at 'dancing',enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

continuing the psychobilly theme we have this offering from the guana batz originally released in 1985 where it reached no.1 in the independent charts.this album brilliantly captures the psychobilly legends that were the guana batz in their prime.the standout track for me here is of course 'king rat'.anyway please listen, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Meteors - In Heaven

The Cherry Bombz - House of Ecstasy

i picked this up recently in the record and tape exchange shop in greenwich.(if your in london go there and check their bargain basement)i hadnt heard of the band before but when i saw that members include terry chimes(ex-clash) and dave tregunna (sham 69) i had to get it.it also features ex members of hanoi rocks and er...... toto coelo.its a combination of live tracks and studio cuts etc.its got a glam kind of sound but thats probably the 'hanoi' influence shining through.they actually also remind me of the band from the film waynes world.listen to the song 'aint what you do' and youll see what i mean!so hopefulyy you'll listen and enjoy it,like it and then leave a comment on it.thanks!

The Sham Pistols - Live

tonights post is a bit of a ' what if?'.it is the recording of the only and only time the sham pistols played live together, if somewhat briefly.here is what wikipedia had to say about it.
"The Sham Pistols were a group that never really existed. After the break up of The Sex Pistols, guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook were looking to form a new band. Various names were mentioned as new bandmates including Bob Geldof, but it was vocalist Jimmy Pursey and bass player Dave Treganna from fellow punk band Sham 69 who were recruited.
At what was intended to be Sham's final concert at the Glasgow Apollo Theatre on June 29, 1979 Jones and Cook had joined Sham onstage for the encore of "Pretty Vacant", "White Riot", "If the Kids are United" and "What Have We Got"? This was to be the start of the new band. Time was spent in the studio where two songs were recorded - "Some Play Dirty" and "Natural Born Killer" (which was later reworked as The Professionals' "Kick Down the Doors"). However problems around deciding the name of the new group (Pursey favoured using 'The Sham Pistols'), and arguments within the band meant that it was not to be. On 19 August Jones and Cook walked out of a recording session, with Jones saying "It's worse than working with Rotten". The studio recordings have never seen the light of day, but the encore at the Glasgow Apollo was released on Sham's Last Stand and Sham 69 Live in Glasgow 1979. The latter miscredits the Sham song "George Davis is Innocent (also known as "The Cockney Kids are Innocent" and "Everybody's Innocent") as the Sex Pistols' "No One is Innocent".
so there you have it kids.if only?id like to hear those studio tracks so if anyones got them please get in touch.now its time again to listen, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!
