The Specials - Live From Down Under

thanks to camden dave for this.its (12 songs only, sorry!) recorded at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney a few days ago as part of the specials ongoing tour of world domination, er.... i mean the 30th anniversary tour and a mighty fine listen it is.some of the songs sound better than others with man at c+a being a particularly fine rendition.i can only assume its because the taper had to keep moving about or something.anyway who cares?its a really nice job and im hoping that the rest of the set will arrive soon.actually camden said that hopefully by wednesday there should be more from this gig and hopefully a decent recording from birmingham as well should be up and blogged.so thats something to look forward to.so now its time to put on your skanking trousers, play this one loud, dance and enjoy yourselves then leave a comment.thanks!

The Ramones - Street Fighting Men

this is one of those boots that i always meant to do myself.you remember how over the last few years the ramones back catalogue was rereleased on cd with extra tracks etc?well me being the completist nerd that i am had to go and buy the cds again.well after that i wished that the record companies would release these extras as a compilation or something.then i thought about doing it myself and promptly forgot.then about a year ago someone gave me this cd-r collection you see here before you today and theyve done what i originally wanted to do.all those demos, single versions, soundtrack versions, original mixes, rare b-sides etc all collected and packed together for your enjoyment.at least i think its all of them i havent taken the cds down and gone through them all but i reckon it must be.anyway as i sit here typing this im listening to a song called 'stares in this town' which came with 'pleasent dreams' which i must say is possibly one of my favourite albums ever.anyway thats not that important, what is important is that you listen, listen again a little bit louder, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Ramones - 914 Sessions

good morning listeners.well as the weather here in london has returned to its normal crappy self i thought id post some ramones to try and shake off those 'crap weather blues'.
Before the Ramones hit it big (OK, they were never as big as the Sex Pistols, but hey, they're the Ramones!) with their self-titled debut album in 1976, there was this little nugget flying around. Recorded on September 19, 1975 at 914 Studios, Blauvelt, New York, Judy's In The Basement was released as a 10-inch EP by Hit & Run Records, and made in East Berlin. The liner notes also state that the songs were produced by Tommy Erdelyi who as we all know was actually their drummer tommy!anyway thats not really important.what is important is that you promise to play this loud, sing along with all the tunes, enjoy it and then leave a comment.thanks!
p.s thanks to http://www.bigozine2.com for some of the info here.

The Jam - PinkPop Festival 1980

This is a fantastic recording capturing the jam at their live best.rick bucklers drumming on this is excellent and the band sound really 'tight' at this gig recorded at the pinkpop festival in holland in 1980.wonderful sound here so its a soundboard recording i reckon.what else is there to say but listen, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Specials - Too Hot in Brixton

just a one track post here.its the classic specials track 'too hot' recorded at one of the recent brixton academy shows.i know its available elsewhere 'officially' but a lot of people have had trouble getting the well known music store to let them d/l it cos they live overseas etc.so this ones for you.also the free cd with the sunday times this week will be posted here for all those unable to get it where they live.so until the weekend play this, enjoy it and then leave a comment.thanks!

Discharge - Society's Victims

Discharge formed in stoke-on-trent in 1977.they quickly hit upon their own distinctive style,a style that was to launch a thousand and one imitators, a style that saw them stripping their abrasive version of punk back to its most simplistic, primal essence.and in doing so they quite probably changed the face and course of the genre for all time.in fact given the huge number of metal bands that also cite Discharge as a major influence,it could be argued that they helped shape not only punk but thrash metal too, indeed extreme music of all shapes and sizes.this mammoth 80 track set covers everything from their 'realities of war' e.p from 1980 to 2002s 'shooting up the world' album.the 3rd cd also includes live tracks recorded in 1983 and 2004 and also some 2004 re-recordings of older tracks.some tracks included are 'protest and survive', 'free speech for the dumb', 'possibility of lifes destruction' and one of my alltime faves 'aint no feeble bastard'.
this is a brilliant collection for all fans of hardcore punk and deserves a place in your homes.anyway now its over to you to play it loud, pogo and slam dance when you have the house to yourself, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!
