another short set from the specials.7 songs from a dutch festival in 1980.if anyone has any more info on this gig id love to hear it.play loud, listen, enjoy, dance and then leave a comment.thanks!
I Thought I posted this but something must have gone wrong:
Pinkpop is Holland's oldest and biggest festival, which started in 1970. The 1980 edition in Geleen, featured Joe Jackson, The Jam and... Van Halen and was hosted by the late great John Peel.
Not only is Pinkpop the oldest festival in The Netherlands (not Holland, which only consists of two of the country's twelve provinces, neither of the two near Pinkpop), it is apparently also the oldest annual festival in the world without interruption. It is however not by a long shot the biggest festival in The Netherlands with a capacity crowd of 60+ thousand, when the Parkpop Festival in The Hague has seen crowds of 300+ thousand people. On The Specials' bit : here's some info of the day plus tracklist of their set and the sets of a few other acts that day. For the non-Dutch speaking/reading people out there, best copy/paste the text to some translator site if you are interested.

In 1983 Funboy Three played the festival.
Thank you for the music!
