The Jam - Live at the El Mocambo

i did a trade yesterday of some live boots and this is the first one i got.its a great show from the jam recorded as the cover says at the 'el mocambo club' in toronto in 1978.i love that name,it conjurs up images of hawaii to me for some reason but im rambling now.the sound on the c.d isnt bad but in a couple of places it sounds 'stretched' not for a huge amount of time but a second or two.anyway its a great record of the jam in their prime.listen out for when paul weller goes mad when someone chucks beer at him.its after song 3 and its brilliant.anyway over to you to play loud(ish),enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!
p.s more 'jam' to come tomorrow when i have a day off work.yippee!

the el mocambo was famed for being the place where the stones did a surprise show in 1975. some of the results of that show comprised the 4th side of their Love You Live cd. I personally saw some great acts there including Cheap Trick, David Johansen, TBone Burnette, The Blasters and Carlene Carter. The Elmo still does shows in their downstairs bar but the upstairs club where this and all of the 'big' shows took place is some kind of a dance studio or something now.

just fyi...

thanks for posting this. will enjoy doubtless...

Played that club on tour with Peter and The Test Tube Babies. Pretty cool place, and I pretty sure Angry has been there a bunch! Elvis Costello recorded a live album there too if I remember right. Thanks for this! Of course The Jam is my favorite band, and I need more Jam boots damnit!!

The Rolling Stones shows were in 1977, not 1975
