UK Subs - Punk can take it !

Evening all. Ok bit of a story behind this post.Ive been reading an excellent book while i was on holiday in Galway last week called "The palace and the punks" by Tony Hill. Its all about the ups and downs of a club called The Grey Topper. Based on personal recollections and interviews with musicians who played there, people who went to and worked there, it is a wonderful picture of life and a story a lot of us will be able to connect with and remind us of our youths. A very warm and a lot of the time laugh out loud funny story (wait till you read the one about adam ants jacket!!) it is a wonderful read and i highly recommend you buy it. You can get it on amazon here the palace and the punks in paperback and kindle versions at a very good price. Anyway there is a wonderful story about the UK Subs and it mentions a short film called "Punk can take it" directed by Julian Temple. Id never heard of it before so i asked Camden Dave what he knew of it and whether he had it. Lo and behold here it is. Its directed in a mock wartime public information style and features a mix of live footage and staged pieces too with guest appearances from the likes of Ed Tudorpole etc. When released it apparently played as an opener to the film Scum the brutal prison film with Ray Winstone. So its over to you guys to watch, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!!
p.s dont forget to check out the book you wont regret it

Calling Clash Fans - Should i buy this?

As you may have gathered by now i am a bit of a Clash obsessive. This mega deluxe box set is released in September and contains remastered versions of all studio albums, discs of demos rarities, live tracks ,dvd's of official videos, reprints of armagideon times, stickers badges etc etc etc and all presented in boom box style packaging designed by Paul Simonon. Now my dilemma as i own all the albums on vinyl and cd (although i cant find the sandinista vinyl!)is whether or not to buy this set.it does come with some choice extras(although i dont know the track listing of the demos and rarities) and would look feckin great in my living room with the rest of my collection. On amazon its available to pre-order for £111.81p. if i dont get it now should i wait till it comes out and then risk having to pay more or take a chance that it will be available for a bit less. I missed out when the cd-singles box set came out first but want to get that as you can get it on amazon now for about £20-25.so what should i do?buy it or forget about it?wait and risk missing out?anyway over to you listeners.id really appreciate your thoughts on this.thanks very much

The Clash - Rettel Festival 1980 repost

ive been meaning to post some clash for a while but for some reason ive not got around to doing it until now.this is what www.blackmarketclash.com had to say about this show."Sourced from an FM radio broadcast this has a great sound, the best from this European/UK final leg of the 16 Tons Tour. It’s the best sounding source for hearing the particular live sound The Clash were producing at this stage in their history; very tight and dominated by Mick’s effects heavy lead guitar, played in a great mixture of short solo bursts and punk power chords."its only 9 songs but bmc explains why.anyway more new clash live stuff to come soon and some re-posts as well.so over to you to listen to this loud, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Clash - Harlesden Calling 1977 Repost

a great live show from the clash recorded at the colliseum in harlesden, london in march of '77.a chaotic gig with several false starts/power failures etc and with joe shouting ' hey mick whats going on?who pulled the plug out?"or words to that effect.anyway according to the good folks at www.blackmarketclash.com a slightly longer version of this exists but with the possibility that several of these extra tracks maybe came from another show.its definitely a very listenable show and a lot better sound than other shows i have from this era of the band.so i hope you listen, enjoy and then leave a comment on it.thanks!

A Request for Help!

Evening all. I have a request for help from anyone living in Ireland who has access to BBC One N.I. Why you ask? Well on Monday night the 21st January the station is showing an hour long documentary of the undertones entitled "Teenage Kicks:The Story of The Undertones". Its on at 22.35 and it sounds like its great. Here is what the BBC website says about it BBC_Undertones. So if anyone could possibly record it and possibly send me a link to it or i can send them blank dvds or something in exchange or a dvd of a band from my collection that would be brilliant. I really want to see this documentary so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much!

Crisis of Conformity - Fist Fight!

Afternoon listeners and welcome to sunny muebles towers on a cold wet afternoon in old London town. This little gem is another of Dave Grohls many side projects. Its a feckin cracking blast of 80's style hardcore. The "a-side" reminds me in particular of sixpack by black flag for some reason although to you it may sound like someone else. The "b-side" reminds me of a song by suicidal tendencies that i cant quite remember the name of. Anyway give this a listen and it s guaranteed to chase away any oncoming winter blues. For me it bought loads of memories of a misspent youth flooding back, i hope it does something similar for you all too. so now just listen, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!
p.s thanks to reggie for this brilliant link!
