Calling Clash Fans - Should i buy this?

As you may have gathered by now i am a bit of a Clash obsessive. This mega deluxe box set is released in September and contains remastered versions of all studio albums, discs of demos rarities, live tracks ,dvd's of official videos, reprints of armagideon times, stickers badges etc etc etc and all presented in boom box style packaging designed by Paul Simonon. Now my dilemma as i own all the albums on vinyl and cd (although i cant find the sandinista vinyl!)is whether or not to buy this set.it does come with some choice extras(although i dont know the track listing of the demos and rarities) and would look feckin great in my living room with the rest of my collection. On amazon its available to pre-order for £111.81p. if i dont get it now should i wait till it comes out and then risk having to pay more or take a chance that it will be available for a bit less. I missed out when the cd-singles box set came out first but want to get that as you can get it on amazon now for about £20-25.so what should i do?buy it or forget about it?wait and risk missing out?anyway over to you listeners.id really appreciate your thoughts on this.thanks very much

The Cortinas - True Romances

good evening listeners.today we have another post courtesy of camden dave and another posting for all the clash completists (myself included) tuning in this evening.this is the only album from the cortinas who were a band originating in bristol in mid 76 and featuring a certain nick sheppard who of course went on to further (in)famy as a member of the clash mk.2.i believe this album was originally released in 1978 and features 13 tracks of a distinctly pop pubrock powerpop kind of a vibe.i quite like it as it goes and this release also features the wonderfully named ' i trust valerie singleton'!!so just time now to tell you to listen ,enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!and of course if the stars and planets are in allignment then the d/l link should be appearing right about now...... www.megaupload.com/?d=0MXBRPK9
p.s if anyone could point me in the direction of the cortinas 'peel sessions' that would be great.thanks very much

p.s if anyone could translate what some of the audience members are saying and let me know that would be great.thanks very much.

The Clash - Give 'em enough dope

After coming across this cd in a box today i did a little research on it and found this at http://www.blackmarketclash.com/

"There is a curious story behind this CD. Sometime in 1988, three EP’s showed up that contained what sound very much like professionally recorded versions of Clash I and II songs, cut from the 1984 tour. The cover art was a melange of candid shots of the band, from both lineups. Included was a pristine run-through of the last great Clash song, the unreleased ‘In the Pouring, Pouring Rain’. And Clash-fan heads have been scratched ever since. Rumors circulated that the tracks were released by castoff guitarist Nick Sheppard, but no proof of that has ever been offered. Other speculation abounded that they were the work of one Kosmo Vinyl, who was preparing to move to the US from England at the time. However, no one has come forth and claimed responsibility .What is remarkable about these tracks is not only do they sound professionally recorded, they sound professionally mixed. There seems to be stereo separation, the drums are soaked in reverb ( something you wouldn’t hear on a soundboard recording) and the levels were high and clean. And the CD gives you a nice contrast between Clash II and the dismal Sun Plaza gig, effectively making the case for the second lineup’s existence."
so listen to this cd and decide for yourselves.i like this even though i wasnt sure about it because a lot of it is the clash II.but its agreat listen all the same.ive included 2 lots of cover art here.one is a set i found on the web somewhere but i cant remember where (sorry!) and the one that the cd was in.anyway listen to and enjoy this one and then leave a comment.thanks!
