The Ruts Live 1979 + Demos 1977

Morning all. This post combines the ruts live at strathclyde university and the freerange demos from 1977. Its nothing that hasnt appeared in loads of places before but as they are both a great listen it made sense to combine the two into one cracking punk rock posting.no artwork with this one im afraid it seems to have gone walkabout but dont let that spoil your enjoyment of a great listen. if like where i am its nice and sunny where you are (strange that, itll probably start pissing rain again in a second now ive siad that!)open the windows, crank this all the way up and let the neighbours know what they should be listening to.so without further ado please listen, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

Ruts DC v Mad Professor v Zion Train

This collection contains the Ruts DC & Mad Professor album RHYTHM COLLISION DUB VOL. 1 (1982) plus the remixed version by Zion Train RHYTHM COLLISION REMIX (1999).a re-release of Ruts DC's definitive punk/reggae fusion record Rhythm Collision Vol. 1. This version is further enhanced with five 12'' bonus and vocal remixes. Originally released on the band's own Bohemian Records, this album was immensely influential in UK punk/reggae circles, and was subsequently re-released on the New York Roir label.

i got this version on a cdr from camden dave unfortunately with no covers so ive had to use what i could find on the interweb.sorry about that.if anyone has the cover from this is there any chance they could scan and post somewhere for me?i do like to burn all the cds i get and have covers for them so that would be lovely.

ok then you can skank about slowly while you listen to this, enjoy the vibes, then walk to the computer and type a comment.thanks so much!

Misty in Roots - The Peel Sessions

after watching the dvd of the recent ruts benefit show for foxy i felt i had to post this.they were one of the bands on the line-up and they were excellent.what a great show that was and i thought henry rollins was a fantastic vocalist for the night.anyway back to this post.its a compilation of 3 sessions(i think!).i have the dates and a full cover somewhere so until then youll have to make do with this one i found on the interweb.my fave track on here is 'wanderer' and its a great, great track.as you all probably know the ruts sung 'jah war' was written about clarence baker, a member of the collective of singers and musicians that made up the original lineup of the band.so there you have it.put this on loud, relax, enjoy and leave a comment.thanks!
here you go with the d/l link www.megaupload.com/?d=O8P26OZ6

Ruts DC - Animal Now

Another delicious re-post from the box labelled 'Repost these now please ' comes this album from Ruts DC.After the great vocalist Malcolm Owen's death from a heroin overdose in 1980, The Ruts added a "D.C." to their name, for "Da Capo" (meaning "back to the beginning) and recorded Animal Now in 1981. Adding sax man Gary Barnacle as a full time member and Paul Fox handling the vocals, Animal Now still features riveting songs and Foxy's amazing guitar work, but more jazz and reggae influences come to the fore. Dangerous Minds, Despondency and No Time To Kill are 3 of the standout songs here for me.This CD re-release of Animal Now contains 7 bonus tracks with demos and extended versions of various songs.so sit back, relax, play it loud, enjoy, then leave a comment.thanks!

The Ruts - Stepping Bondage Demos

going through various files and folders on the hardrive at the weekend i found this in a folder labelled 'misc2' ( which was in a folder labelled 'a pictorial history of WW2' !!)
.anyway its apparently a collection of demos, session tracks etc recorded between 78 - 80 and a live track at the end.ive been looking on the interweb for some info but all ive found is info on a 3 track e.p of the same name.when i found the cd-r i had this on it had nothing on the front except the title and the cover only had the track list.so kids its over to you to play this loud, enjoy and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Ruts - Deeply Vale Festival 1978

The Deeply Vale Festivals were a unique rock festival held in northwest England in 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979. Chris Hewitt was one of the main organisers of the event and went to produce many other festivals and concerts and start a record company Ozit Morpheus Records.. Starting with an audience of 300 camping for two days in 1976, the festival grew by 1978 and 1979 to 20,000 people watching bands and camping for six days. The Home Office-sponsored body that reported on many pop festivals from the mid 1970's- Festival Welfare Services- said in a report on the 1978 that Deeply Vale Festival "was actually better organised than the large Bob Dylan concert at Blackbushe the same summer". It was the biggest free festival in England ending its annual run after four years in 1979.(from wikipedia.org)
this performance from The Ruts is from the '78 festival when the band were still a relatively unknown quantity outside london.the band may seem a little rough and ready here at times but there is no denying the energy that simply oozes from this disk.babylons burning and jah wars are two tracks here that will simply melt your speakers!this is a fantastic document of one of the best live punk bands and this disk should be in everyones collection.anyhoo with that in mind put this disk on,crank the volume way up,pogo and enjoy the marvellous musical stylings of south londons finest 'the ruts'.and then leave a comment.thanks!

The Ruts - Something that i said

this is a good compilation for people who like the music of the ruts and are new to their sound but arent really sure where to start.its mainly made up of songs from the first album and a few other singles etc.not really much else to say about this but if you like the band give it a listen as its always handy to have a compilation like this.and also if you are a completist like me and need all their releases you must get it.so listen, enjoy, think back to 1980 and leave a comment.thanks!

The Ruts - Ruts in a can

this is an amazing collection of rare, unreleased material. The remaining Ruts band members agreed to release their original recordings made before signing to Virgin. This is a must for all Ruts and Punk fans alike. This collectors tin contains the original versions of their hits "Babylon's Burning" (No.7, 1979), "Something That I Said" (No.29, 1979 ), as well as their debut single "In A Rut". Also featured are the original versions of "H-Eyes" and classics like "Society", "Criminal Minds", "Gotta Little Number", "You're Just A...", "Savage Circle" and "Give Youth A Chance". Recorded over three different sessions, this album, compiled and remastered by the band themselves (who also supplied liner notes) is Punk rock history!
if you get the chance to get the original of this i highly recommend you do.its a superb package.in the meantime play this one instead, listen, enjoy, dont get in a rut but do leave a comment.thanks!
