originally formed in 1972 and going through several name changes and line ups the band finally settled on the name XTC in 1976.they released their first single in 1977 and their first album 'white music' in 1978.im not sure of the exact dates of the session recordings but i think one was recorded on june 24th 1977.anyway its better for you to just listen, enjoy some great music and then leave a comment.thanks

Thanks a lot for posting this hard-to-find material. And for anyone interested in recording dates and so forth, you can go to the John Peel archives on the BBC official page.
PS: It seems that the version of "Statue of Liberty" included here was not recorded for a John Peel program.
Nice post Gobshyte, I posted the first JP session sometime ago from a poor recording straight of the radio. I was then contacted by a guy called Per Aronsson (an intermediary for Andy Partridge) who was looking for these recordings and I sent him my original tape. Your post is far better quality and I passed on a link to your post, so you never know you may get a call.
All the best, Gary
He definitely wanted the tape for the band.
hi Per.
